I've been nesting for several months now. Anyone who tells you adoption is nothing like pregnancy & having your own is flat out lying! I can officially say I have experienced both, and I find the similarities uncanny. They both have their ups and downs and the closer you get to the end/your child - you forget the hardships/labor. Both processes are absolutely beautiful.
I once had a dear friend share with a group of us at a retreat that she treasured doing her children's laundry because she knew they would be gone on their own someday. I thought it was really sweet but could not relate in any shape or form. What's precious about piles of laundry lining the hallway outside the laundry room? What's precious about thinking you're finally all caught up and then walking into your children's bathrooms to find two loads all ready?
Well tonight, I had a precious moment in my laundry room. I washed Rammy's clothing to take with us on our trip. Part of my nesting has involved consignment shopping - a little difficult to sort through and buy for someone you've never seen before plus there's so much! Anyway, I found some most precious things and have enjoyed combining my consignment items with my Gap and Target clearance items. What can I say? I love a bargain! Big Sister helped with the shopping a few times over the past few weeks and made it a lot of fun. We both enjoyed ourselves - I mean what's not to love about children's clothing? Precious!
But tonight, when I found myself doing for Rammy that which I've done a bagillion, gazillion, quadrillion times before for my other three, it was precious... a treasured moment in my laundry room. (Somebody, please remind me of this blog a few months from now when I'm complaining about all the laundry I have with four kids! Please!) But for tonight, I love my laundry. I loved folding the cute little red crew kids shirt and gap plaid shorts for my son... for my son ... precious. And his sweet jammies with the froggies and soccer balls that Big Sister/Ate picked out... precious.
